The Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering (SAMPE) Europe has organized the next conference in Lecce, from 30 September - 01 October 2026, bringing over 150 oral and poster presentations focusing on challenging applications in advanced composites; materials, their processes, research and developments. The theme of the Conference is indeed “The Future of Advanced & Sustainable Composites”. The pre-conference plant visit, on Tuesday 29, includes a visit to CETMA and ENEA Research Centers in Brindisi. At the conference, 300 delegates and over 30 exhibitors are expected.

In addition to the scheduled visit to its laboratories at the Brindisi Center, ENEA is actively participating with three oral presentations, which will be held on Thursday, October 1st:

- Importance of characterization by X-ray tomography of short fiber reinforced polymers in predicting the mechanical properties of composite material - Maintenance Repair and Inspection Session, by Michele Nacucchi, Department for Sustainability, Division Sustainable Materials, Research Centre of Brindisi.

- Bioyarn Surface Engineering for Next-Generation Composites in Wind Energy - Fibers, Resin and Interfaces, by Marta Ceroni, Department for Sustainability, Division Sustainable Materials, Kilometro Rosso Laboratory, Bergamo.

- Development of components by integration of design, polymeric composites materials, 3D-printing and coatings deposition for high-performance applications: from wind power to aerospace - Additive Manufacturing Session, by Alessandra Strafella, Department for Sustainability, Division Sustainable Materials, Research Centre of Brindisi.

The conference organizing committee highly appreciates the fact that among the speakers there are ENEA researchers. The expected audience will be about 40 -100 people depending the topic/session.

Participation was made possible thanks to the financial support provided by the Italian Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security (MASE) through the collaboration contract “Composite materials for wind turbine structural components with improved efficiency and durability”, within Project 1.4 – Frontier materials and devices for energy applications, Three‑Year Implementation Plan 2025–2027 (Ricerca di Sistema elettrico nazionale - Piano Triennale 2025-2027 - Accordo di Programma n.69 del 20.10.2025).
